On April 20, 2011, I went on one of several assignments inside the Fukushima "hot zone".

Yoshida's Dilemma is scheduled to be published in March to coincide with the 6th anniversary of the disasters that struck northern Japan on March 11, 2011. Even at this late stage I am working on the final editing, and updating a section due to a meeting with a former Fukushima plant worker. I met him originally several years ago but at that time he was reluctant to give his name and other personal details. When I saw him in February, however, he explained the stress and mental strain that the nuclear accident had caused him. He had been right in the firing line at the time of the disasters and felt responsible for what happened in the aftermath, when tens of thousands of people were evacuated from their homes. Still many are unable to return due to the high levels of radiation in some communities nearer the plant. Some of the stories he told were astonishing and have been included in the book during what is now the final editing stage.
